Prairie Ring

The Prairie Ring is Origin Handcrafted's ring in bison horn and whiskey barrel oak over carbon fibre. Owner Marc Liss works it from the same stock as the knives.

Two Origin Handcrafted Prairie Rings, dark bands with a thin warm inlay line, resting on rock spotted with yellow lichen.

Origin Handcrafted builds the Prairie Ring around a carbon fibre core, then wraps it in bison horn and a turned band of oak. The oak comes from a retired whiskey barrel, reclaimed rather than milled new, and the horn is bison rather than the sawmill steel the shop uses for its knives. Marc Liss makes the ring in Balmoral, Manitoba, a village north of Winnipeg, in the same workshop that builds the knives. Origin Handcrafted quotes eight to ten weeks per made-to-order piece.
