NONIA's Salt and Pepper Cap is a traditional flecked wool cap, hand-knit in a Newfoundland home, with a lucky penny set into the button on top.

The Salt and Pepper Cap is the most traditional thing NONIA sells, a flecked cap knit by hand in a Newfoundland home. The adult version is 100% wool and carries a lucky penny in the button on top. The children's sizes are acrylic and have no penny. It is the cheapest thing in the catalogue, which makes it the easiest way to own something one of NONIA's knitters made. The organization has sold hand knits from St. John's since 1920.

Origin

Made (hand-knit) in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, by one of about 140 knitters working in their own homes. Sold from NONIA's store in St. John's. Adult caps are 100% wool and children's sizes are 100% acrylic. NONIA does not state where its wool is spun.

Materials

100% wool (adult sizes); 100% acrylic (children's sizes)
